What is an Ebenezer? Does it have anything to do with Ebenezer Scrooge from Charle’s Dickens A Christmas Carol? To find the answer we need to go back into the Old Testament during the time of Samuel to find the answer.

It’s God’s job to get us where He wants us to go. Our job is to make ourselves available. It’s our readiness to respond that God is looking for. Sometimes it’s a simple prompting to go out of our way to love a neighbour, other times it may be a calling to move half way around the world, but it always starts with the little three-word prayer of availability: Here am I.
