We Love Because He First Loved Us

Have you ever been in the “groan zone” – it’s where you sigh more than you speak; when your inner agony is so deep that you’re literally at a loss for words, you can’t even express what you’re actually feeling; when you cry and ask “Why?”; when you’re so confused that you just don’t know which way to turn; when you’re tempted to give up praying all together.
“If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes…” We can relate to the writer of Psalm 119 in that there are certain commands that God has given that you find are easy enough to do, maybe you’re good at those things or strong in those areas. But when you think about ALL God’s commands you realise that there areas that are not great at all. If only we were more consistent in all areas of our spiritual lives, if only we were more consistent in following all of God’s Word.
When we live in a way that we believe we deserve certain privileges or standards of living we actually knock God out of the center of our lives and rather place ourselves there. Entitlement means being self-centered and when we don’t get what we believe we deserve this can lead us to questioning the goodness of God.
