Christmas is the greatest event in the history of the world. (The world is dated from the birth of Jesus).

It’s when God came down to earth, and took on the form of a human being, became flesh, in the person of Jesus Christ. He was described as the Messiah by the prophet Isaiah.

Isaiah uses four names that have special meaning to us;  “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.” He will be called…

Wonderful Counselor. He is exceptional, distinguished, and without peer, the one who gives the right advice.

Mighty God.  He is God himself.

Everlasting Father. He is timeless. He is God our Father.

Prince of peace. His government is one of justice and peace.

Jesus actually referred to Himself as “The light of the world”. God promised to send a light who would shine on everyone. This message of hope was fulfilled in the birth of Christ, the first Christmas day.

He came to save us from our sin which He took on the cross.

The good news, is that He is coming again, and every eye shall see Him, but this time He will reign on David’s throne and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness forever.

This should be the hope of all people this Christmas, and this is what Christmas means to me. Come Lord Jesus.

Dave.
